Hi I saw that you mentioned your love of The Pickwick Papers on the Owl of The Remove blog, and I wanted to contact you as I have a piece of Pickwick-news, which I hope will be of interest to you. Clicking on your name on that blog led me to this site, but then I couldn’t see any way of contacting you except by leaving a comment. Strangely enough, an elephant is not irrelevant to the news I have, so I think I shall leave the comment here. Anyway, I thought you might be interested in hearing that I have written a novel about the origins and subsequent history of The Pickwick Papers. It’s called Death and Mr Pickwick and will be published on May 21st by Random House (in the UK) and on June 23rd by Farrar, Straus & Giroux (in the USA). I do hope you will take a look at it, if you get an opportunity. My novel has a similar structure to Pickwick – so, just like in The Pickwick Papers, I have various breaks for stories, and this is where the elephant comes in. Because at one point, a character refers to an obscure line in Pickwick, and this leads to a story of an elephant, which explains the line. Well, I hope you don’t mind my contacting you. If you would like further information about my novel, please go to www.deathandmrpickwick.com where I can also be contacted. Best wishes
